Thin (Single Pel) Lines Are Extremely Light or Not Visible
Affected Products:

Issue Description:
A printed graphic (chart, spreadsheet, or image) is missing fine lines or its lines are barely visible.
Solution:
Depending on printer type, driver version and age of the printer, you can enable or adjust
pixel boost
, halftone or
enhance fine lines
.

Adjusting 'Pixel boost' Setting for Monochrome Printers:
This setting will only be available with monochrome printer drivers or a universal printer driver (
UPD
) configured for a monochrome printer.
  1. Open the
    Printers and Faxes
    (Devices or Printers) window.
  2. Right-click
    on the printer object.
  3. Click on
    Printing Preferences
  4. Click on the
    Quality
    tab.
  5. Underneath
    Pixel boost
    , select the necessary setting, i.e.,
    Off
    ,
    Both directions
    ,
    Vertically
    ,
    Horizontally
    ,
    Fonts
    .
  6. Click on
    Apply
    .
  7. Click on
    OK
    .

  1. Open the

    Halftone setting

Settings Explained:
Setting
Details
Pixel Boost
(Available only for monochrome printers)
  • Use printer settings
    – Apply the setting specified in the printer.
  • Off
    – Disable pixel boost
  • Fonts
    – Darken text on printed output. This setting only affects font data.
  • Horizontally
    – Darkens horizontal lines of text and images on the printed page.
  • Vertically
    – Darkens vertical lines of text and images on the printed page.
  • Both directions
    – Darkens both horizontal and vertical lines of text and images on the printed page.
Halftone
  • Use printer settings
    – Apply the settings specified in the printer.
  • Detail
    – Use alternate halftone screens designed for thin color lines and text rather than uniformity and smoothness.
  • Normal
    –Use standard halftone screens.
Enhance fine lines
(MS) system driver and older driver versions only
  • On
    – Enhances fine lines on the printed page.
  • Off
    – Disables the setting.
